Cask 1.210 ‘Kept in the dark’

There’s not much really I can say about Glenfarclas that your station host and Cellarmaster Andrew Derbidge doesn’t know. It’s his favourite distillery and he’s kinda my oracle of whisky. Read this line to him if you’ve scanned the QR to get here… that said, it’s a distillery renowned for its output of amazing sherried whiskies, and this one is from an ex-bourbon cask! Very rarely do Glenfarclas distil and fill into ex-bourbon, but when they do you get a sense of the distillery character through this thick and luscious spirit character into a cask that tastes like it’s been slumbering in a dunnage forgotten for the last 7 years. Spellbinding stuff and at an ABV that will make your eyes water with joy.

Cask 135.12 ‘Juicy yet mouth drying’

Distillery 135, aka Loch Lomond, is probably the most versatile and innovative distillery in Scotland. So much so, we have 5 x individual codes for them at the SMWS now. The only distillery in Scotland that does malt whisky, grain whisky, and their own ‘single distillery blend’ under one roof with a maze of stills and yeasts and casks to boot. Confused yet? Try this peated 135 and discover how complex and exciting mainland non-Islay peated whisky can be. Ask Andrew (or Matt) more about this distillery and jump on the last of these bottlings at the reduced rate tonight.
