One of the highlights of the whisky calendar at SMWS, as we’ve been told by members so many times, is the insane pairings created by our resident chocolatier, Krsna Raj from BASIK. Krsna has taken substantial samples of our recent EXP.01 27yo Chilli Spirit Drink experiment, and created a bespoke chilli rocky road whisky penguin. Using ingredients custom to the project, including the chilli spirit we made, along with dark & milk chocolate couverture shell, SMWS chilli whisky butter caramels (encased in milk chocolate), toasted vanilla bean & coconut marshmallow, cherry raspberry pate de fruit, and almond gianduja. This promises to be a flavour explosion like no other, and something to perhaps pair with our Premium Malt of the Month. This product is not suitable for those with nut or dairy allergies. -

To commemorate our 20 years of the Society in Australia, we’ve custom-created a stunning one-off triple bottle box for the three casks on offer celebrating this 20th milestone. Each box is unique, just like our casks, and has been custom-built in Tasmania out of genuine Huon pine with engraving and sliding lid housing all three casks. Handmade and months in production, this one-off set is unique both to the 20th anniversary, and to the shape and contour of each set. No two boxes are the same.

Founder of the Society, Pip Hills, has written a new book entitled "The Founder’s Tale". A good idea and a glass of malt which started the world’s largest whisky club as we know it today. The book is a collection of stories about Pip and his friends and how they brought Scotland’s finest product to a waiting world. It begins in a small farm in Aberdeenshire and moves through high places (The World Trade Centre) and low (a jungle dive in the South Seas), with the help of the famous and the obscure, the good, the bad and the mildly delinquent. There are high mountains and wild seas, and a trip (with whisky) to Communist eastern Europe in a vintage Lagonda. Essential reading for all members, understand how our club was founded and the ethos that fuelled its growth – an ethos that is still at the heart of everything we do.
