The nose evoked scents of the forest – sandalwood, cedar, wood shavings and roast chestnuts. The sweetness of honeynut cornflakes and sweet muffins emerged with toasted marshmallows and rum and raisin ice cream. Orange marmalade and blueberry jelly. The neat palate was luscious and sweet with scrumptious blueberry muffins and sweet herbs. The reduced nose had cream scones with strawberry jam, grape jelly, Gallia melon and jammy dodgers. The reduced palate was of citrus and spiced teas, followed by a mid palate of Greek olives, Acacia honey and grape juice. The closed distillery lies on the north bank of the Clyde.
Local Panel Comments:
A sweet, aged lowlander with strong oak influence that adds a complex and integrated touch. The dram unwinds and reveals itself with time, so spend a few minutes with it. One of those drams that offers an intriguing dichotomy between nose and palate.
